The Most Important Organ: Brain
I think the number one organ that I would want to protect is the brain. Without a good brain, the rest does not matter. Why so? You heard of heart transplant (even mechanical or artificial heart), liver transplant, and what not...but have you heard of brain transplant? A good source for information on brain health is The Better Brain Book, by Dr. David Perlmutter, MD, FACN and Carol Colman.

Why this topic?
Yesterday, my wife and I went to an organic vegetarian restaurant, Living Green (along Beach Road), to have some snacks. Other than tasty yet healthy organic food, there are several books for browsing, and I chanced upon one about nutrition.
This inevitably sparked a conversation on healthy living and nutrition. Being a visionary, or dreamer, I drifted into possible business ideas about healthy living. But I regretted touching on this topic as soon as I brought it up. I opened myself - again - to a ceaseless bombardment about my no-action-talk-only me, from my very operation-oriented wife. "If you really want to do it, then plan and put it into action! Don't just think and talk about it..." she would blast.
Throughout my life, I have been "passionate" about many things, my dear wife rightly pointed out. But there is something that I never stop pursuing: healthy living. I am not a hardcore greeny, but I am conscious about what I put in my mouth. Although I love Char-Kway-Teow, Char-Cai-Tao-Kuey, etc, I have them in moderation, once in a while.
This conversation made me think deep about what I really want. To age without aging is what I want. I am not afraid of being dead, but I am afraid of being a living dead. I do not fear growing old, but I fear the effects of growing old. I do not want to be a burden to my children and people around me. I am going 36 this year, and I want to live like I am 36 when I am 96!
